About this deal

Supplied here in 240v with a range of accessories including: 1x Table Winder, 1x 1/2" Collet, 1x 12mm Collet, 1x Multi Function Fence & 1x Collet Spanner. But I have faith that when I do call, Triton's great tech support team will have me up and running in no time. And it excels in all these features... I also love the soft-start which mitigates the torque reaction felt during hand-use... if I had any criticism, it would be that the pressed-steel collet spanner had a razor-sharp edge on one side from the manufacturing process, a touch-up with a file sorted that... I also love the plunge system: it makes life easy when doing off hand work, and when mounted in the router table. I also use it as a plunge router, the Engine works smoth, start softly even if it is 2400w, thats good. The balace in the router is a Little bit high so it is easier to hold one hand on the router base to keep it down to the Surface, But I found my technique to use it in a good way. This is not a problem and I will also use it 90% in my router table.

I was VERY disappointed to see that the router bit hole is too small for raised panel doors cutters - all, doesn't depend on the brand! They don't fit in that hole so you can't use them unless the cutter is completely over the table which means you have to put another support board under the raised panel board to be able to cut it. Attaching a hose to the vacuum port interferes with the the lifer rod so you have to push the hose out of the way to attach the rod. Even taking into account the couple of minor criticisms I have about the router, overall, I am absolutely delighted with it and would recommend it especially for home made table mounting. It suits my needs perfectly. I have had my Triton for a good while now and it works flawlessly. I bought it specifically for use in a router table and I especially like the fact that no lift is required to lift the router above the table for bit changes and adjustments. A great feature and a serious cost savings.Depending on the solution of the request I can strongly recommend this table or don't recommend it at all. The range and availability of extras such as collets and guide bushes has been good with availability from other makes such as Trend also out there – always a good sign for a product. There is a fine adjustment that will literally move the bit up or down by just a hair; this is also invaluable for rabbits, slots, or even just getting that nice roundover without the horrible line that always needs sanding out. It has been three years since my original review for this router (under the name FirstMM) - it is safe to say that the honeymoon period is definitely over on this tool!

If I had to change one thing it would be the point where the cable exit the machine to slightly lower point. Adding some hear protection in the box would be a bonus. I'm giving the TRA001 five stars for the reasons above which add up to unbelievable value for money. But I must subtract a bit for the depth-stop Irritation so let's call it 95% but even so, if you want a big router you won't be disappointed.

Triton TRA001 2400W Dual Mode Precision Plunge Router 240v

One final thing - my model did not come with the half to quarter inch collet reducer which is a shame. It appears to be included with the cheaper MOF model and, I have to say, I found this omission perplexing! The Power is also enough for anything you can put in a router, there it's no limitation in this machine there.

There are many other great features to this powerful, safe machine but these are my favourites and have made routing on the table a real pleasure. Plus, being worried that I didn't have the aptitude to repair the unit myself, another call to tech support eased my mind, and the tech walked me through every step of the process. I've been using the machine primarily for tracing a template by means of a 'copying router bit' (the one's with the roller bearing). Runs smooth and powerful, depth can be adjusted very accurately and the weight pf the machine results in good stability. The only point for improvement I've found so far is the dust collection - with regard to the way I've been using it (copying template) I must say. Because the router base is only resting on the material partly, the dust collection is actually turning out a bit messy due to the forced air that blows it all out in the open. I've made an extra base plate with a much smaller whole out of clear acrylic, just enough to let the router bit slide trough. This solves it.

‘The BEST’ just got better: Triton’s new TRA is almost here

I love the features of the triton line, it sits in my router table and is wonderful to use. I love the ease to which I can change bites rais an lower the the bit. For a novice such as myself this router can't be beat. I wish there was an option for buying the tool with out all the gadgets... personally I will never use the 31/4 router to do anything else than be in my table. It saves me a lot of time, especially since I just have one router for off hand use and use with this table. Attaching and detaching the Triton router is simple and straightforward. I bought this tool a month ago... I have to admit I was slightly intimidated by this router as it is the most powerful I used so far; but I found it easy and safe to use. Its features are super useful and far from being gadgets! It is also a Dual Mode Router as you can either use it as a normal plunge one or you can also table mount it AND it comes with a winder handle to adjust the height/depth of the router bit whence used as a table mounted one! I chose this router because I was putting together a new router table. I really wanted to ease the challenge of adjusting the cutter height so it could be done either from above or from the side, and the choice seemed to be either a router lift (very expensive) or this router. There are few alternatives out there that offer the above-table adjustment that this does. I chose this, and I don't regret it. Above-table bit-change is easy. It's very powerful. Dust extraction from the machine is pretty good too, and far better than I've managed before. My only gripe is that access to the switch is required to enable you to raise the bit enough to change the cutter, and that restricts table design. The bottom line is an attractive one, though. It's a powerful, precise machine that delivers well on many axes. And it's exceptionally cost effective. For the money, there's really nothing else that is even close. In a table, I think you have to spend much more than twice as much to get any increment at all. I'm delighted with the choice I made, and recommend it strongly for a table.

This is a very solid piece of kit. When assembled (which took very little time) I was amazed at how heavy it is and how stable. My only wish now, is that I'd bought the optional wheels, because this is very heavy to lug around, even with the modules removed. The foot is stable, bigger than average routers. The plunge construction very ridgid which helps to keep narrow tolerances. Safety wise the on/off button is a nice as it is protected by a door. There is a small delay when powered up. Once you get used to it it is good to have. Speed is fully adjustable to router bit/ material you are cutting. So far, I've only used the table saw, but wow, how much easier it has made tasks. No way could I easily and accurately have trimmed a centimetre off both sides of a large cupboard door without this, leaving a perfect edge. It is very well thought out; for example, you can leave the table saw in it when folder up, which saves even more space in my limited workshop. Triton Tools, leading brand of woodworking hand and power tools, is revealing its new router: the TRA002. For over 20 years, Triton’s TRA001 has been a workshop staple around the world. Renowned as being the router designed for woodworkers, by woodworkers, it continues to rate among the best in product head-to-heads and is highly sought after. This router was bought specifically for my homemade table because of the lifter handle, speed control for large bits & the ability to change bits from above... different ways to adjust the height of the cutter/router so that you can be super accurate in an easy manner!
