I bought this just a couple of weeks ago. Wow, so glad I did. As well as looking stylish, with its own carry case, it has really made a difference to how clean my teeth feel.
The Series 5 comes with a refill holder that holds and protects 2 brush heads. The iO6 does not come with this. The Series 8 has 6 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense, whiten & gum care) compared to the 5 of the Series 7 (daily clean, sensitive, intense, whiten & gum care). The extra mode the iO8 has is super sensitive. I would argue do you even need the iO Series at all. Don’t get me wrong, they are great. But, a basic model cleans just as well. If you and your partner can just make sure you are brushing for the correct time and the correct technique you could save yourself a lot of money. Reply My experience and my dentist said don’t be to tight with the toothpaste, put plenty (many don’t put enough).iO combines Oral-B's unique round head with the gentle cleaning energy of micro-vibrating bristles. I hear you on the colours. The choice would be nice, but unfortunately, there is no violet iO9 or pink iO8. This way you will get an exact list of registers which is based on the actual controller configuration.

There are some more differences between the cases to be aware of too. iO9 and 10 can be recharged whilst inside their travel case – requires separate power adapter Interactive Colour Display signals important information and enables you to select between 6 brushing modes.The CAN bus needs to be correctly terminated. A 120 Ohm resistor needs to be present on each end of the line. To verify correct termination, you can switch off the power to all connected modules and measure the resistance across the L and H terminals. The result should be 60 Ohm. Please note this only tells you if the correct amount of resistors is used, it will not give you information about their location. For other brushes in the past ‘N’ has usually referred to the standard brush head, ‘CrossAction’ or in the case of the iO Series ‘Ultimate Clean’. Those models with a display will show a notification on the screen. If connected to the Oral-B app, a notification will be displayed here too for compatible models.
The difference is generally what’s included in the box. This could be a different brush head or a different accessory or both. It varies around the world.
